Revenant-X

We read Revenant-X and wholeheartedly recommend it.

We read and loved the first book in the Red Space trilogy, so we were hankering for book two to arrive. We waited and waited, and at last, we got our hands on book two, Revenant-X. Alexandra Petrova is back, with pilot and love interest Parker. Dr. Zhang, and my favorite MVP, Rapscallion, also return.

For American audiences, Revenant-X was unfortunately released on November 5, 2024-Election day.

This novel has a different rhythm and pace from the first book, Paradise-1. In Paradise-1 we followed the characters as they struggled to survive, fighting madness, devious machinations, and bloody-minded opponents to reach the planet. The action and surprises were constant. Well-imagined and well-told.

In Revenant-X we find our heroes on Paradise with little more than the clothes on their backs on an unfamiliar planet. It doesn’t take long before they are noticed. Things get dodgy and deadly, and the adventure picks up again. The reader follows the group across an indifferent and, at times, unintentionally hostile planet to the depth of a mine where the hostilities are 100% intentional, and we meet the final boss-to-be.

At the end of the novel, one from the group is missing (no, we won’t even suggest who it is), and a Machiavellian, devious, and deadly character makes a surprise return.

Revenant-X is a great read, and we can’t wait for the third book in this series.
